For its 10th Anniversary, Suffolk Philharmonic brought world-class music to venues across Suffolk
At venues across the county, the Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra delighted audiences with its breathtaking performances of Ralph Vaughan Williams' 'The Lark Ascending'. The series of six concerts during the summer of 2022 featured an unusual and special performance by actor, Tim Welton, playing the role of Ralph Vaughan Williams. Using the the composer's own words and those written by his contemporaries, Mr Welton brought tremendous life and insight into the world of RVW.
Playing the violin solo was Richard Milone, who gave outstanding performances of this well loved piece of music. 'The Lark Ascending' has been voted number one on the radio station, Classic FM, for several years - proof that this evocative piece of music never loses its spell-binding quality. Audience feedback from the concerts was tremendous, including such comments as 'it almost moved me to tears', and 'superb, simply superb'.
The Suffolk Philharmonic now looks forward to its 2023 series of Celebration Sunday concerts, which begins at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on 26 March 2023.
